About me

Behind the camera

Fernando Pedro Salgado, street photographer in Prague

I am a black-and-white street photographer based in the beautiful city of Prague, Czech Republic. A city I fell in love with and one that completely transformed the way I see photography.

For me, photography is much more than creating beautiful images. It is a way of slowing down, staying curious and connecting with the world around me.

My style is rooted in observation and storytelling. I’m fascinated by the quiet beauty of everyday life and the fleeting moments that often go unnoticed… a passing glance, the play of light and shadow, or a fleeting interaction that lasts only a second.

The street is where I feel most at home, not because I am searching for extraordinary places, but because I believe the extraordinary is already happening all the time, right in front of us. Through my lens, ordinary moments become timeless stories.

Working in black and white allows me to simplify the scene and focus on what matters most: light, emotion, atmosphere and human connection. I’m drawn to strong contrasts, cinematic compositions and moments where timing transforms something familiar into something unexpected.

My goal is not simply to document what I see, but to create photographs that invite people to pause, look closer and imagine their own story. I want each image to leave room for interpretation, allowing the viewer to become part of the moment rather than just an observer.

Photography has become a way of life, one I love to share through my Photography Masterclasses in Prague. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone discover a new way of looking at the world, gain confidence with their camera and become part of a community united by a shared passion for photography.

Wait for the moment. It always comes.
